SARTs & Radar Transponders

SARTs - Search and Rescue Transponders

A SART -  Survival Craft Radar Transponder for Search and Rescue Operationsis one of the least recognized pieces of safety gear within the recreational boating community. When activated a SART transmits an emergency signal that imposes a 12-dash locator image on the radar screen of other vessels or aircraft.

SARTs are required on any vessel governed by GMDSS, the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, minimum safety standards agreed to by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) - for any yacht or vessel carrying more than one life raft to accommodate crew and passengers.

Please Note : Due to restrictions imposed by the manufacturers, SARTs - Search and Rescue Transponders may not be returned for a refund once the box has been opened.
