Emergency / Survival / Rescue Radios
An Emergency / Survival / Rescue Radio,
regardless of the name, should be a vital part of any vessel's survival
or ditch bag. This designated radio has one purpose - to be available,
fully charged and ready for use in the event of an emergency. Required on
all vessels that need to meet GMDSS, the Global Maritime Distress and
Safety System, minimum safety standards agreed to by the International
Maritime Organization (OMO), regulations - to include commercial marine and
petro-marine vessels.
