Optx·20/20® HydroTac™ Lenses

Teach your favorite sunglasses to read! These micro-thin, optically clear, flexible, removable and reusable magnifying lenses turn your favorite sunglasses, safety glasses, computer glasses, helmet visor, or ski / dive goggles into bifocals! Available in six magnifications from 1.25 to 3.00 diopters. Unlike expensive prescription bifocals, these lenses cost less than $20!

Optx-20/20 HydroTac Lenses

Have you ever fumbled with two sets of glasses -- one for magnification to read and the other for protection from the sun? Here's the solution: Optx·20/20 HydroTac lenses -- the soft, removable, reading lenses that can change any style of sunglasses into an instant set of bifocal sunglasses for a fraction of the cost of prescription bifocals. Developed by optical inventor and plastic lens pioneer Peter La Haye, these lenses are one of the best new product ideas we've come across in a long time.

Available in six magnifications (diopters).

Sooner or later, virtually everyone starts to lose the ability to "accommodate" or focus sharply at close range. This is called "presbyopia" (or farsightedness), and if you've reached your 40s you're probably starting to encounter its inevitable effects. If this sounds familiar, you're gonna fall in love with these little apply-them-yourself Optx·20/20 lenses, just like we did.

Optx·20/20 is the ideal solution for anyone who leads an active, free lifestyle, but who may need some help seeing things close up. It’s perfect for anyone who loves to be outdoors -- looking at a chart or approach plate in the cockpit, reading a book on the beach or in a boat, checking the golf score card, studying a trail map, tying a fish lure, or just reading a restaurant menu.

Based on a molecular-attraction technology -- the same basic principle that makes clear plastic kitchen wrap cling tightly to a glass bowl -- Optx·20/20 lenses adhere firmly to your eyewear using just a drop of water, are completely removable and reusable. They leave sunglasses free of any tell-tale lines or sticky residue. They are simple to use and can be positioned and trimmed to fit any style or size of sunglasses. They're also ideal for safety glasses, computer glasses, flight and cycle helmet visors, cycle, ski and dive goggles, and many other types of eyewear.

Each Optx·20/20 lens is manufactured from micro-thin pliable optical-grade plastic and has a half-moon shape designed to cover approximately the inside bottom 25% of your standard eyewear lenses. However, the lenses can be easily trimmed to fit for special applications, and even can be positioned on top for overhead work. They're incredibly versatile.

Installing Optx·20/20 lenses is quick and easy. First, wash your eyewear with mild soap and water to ensure that the lenses are clean and oil-free. Then apply a drop of plain water to the inside of the lens and place the Optx·20/20 magnifier in position, generally at the lower inside edge of the lens, with the convex side of the Optx·20/20 against the lens. Press the Optx·20/20 in place with a rolling motion of your finger in order to squeeze out any air bubbles. Remove any excess water with a tissue. Repeat for the other lens. Then let your eyewear dry for an hour or so and you're done!

Once applied in this fashion, your eyewear may be wiped clean or washed with soap and water without any risk of dislodging the Optx·20/20 magnifiers. Yet the Optx·20/20 lenses may be easily removed and repositioned, or transferred to another set of glasses.

Optx·20/20 lenses are available in six magnifying powers from 1.25 to 3.00 diopters (see chart at right).  Choose your ideal strength based on how presbyopic you are and how close you need to focus. As a general rule-of-thumb, determine the correct magnification by subtracting 30 from your age, then moving the decimal point one place to the left. (For example, if you're 55 years old, 55-30=25 so you probably need 2.5 diopter magnification for close-up work.) Or see chart below. Naturally, everyone's eyes are different, so your mileage may vary.

Optx·20/20 lenses normally retail for about $25.00, but you can purchase them at discount from OceanMedix.com for just $14.95 per pair. At this price, you can afford to buy several pairs and teach all your favorite eyewear to read!

Purchase your Optx·20/20 HydroTac lenses risk-free! Like everything else sold by OceanMedix.com, Optx·20/20 lenses are sold with an unconditional 30-day return privilege. If you're dissatisfied for any reason, send them back within 30 days for a full refund.

EarPlanes™

EarPlanes pressure-regulating ear plugs for flying
EarPlanes™ are designed to eliminate the "ear block" discomfort that many people suffer when flying -- particularly those with sensitive ears and those who must fly when suffering from a cold, allergy or sinus congestion. Safe, soft and comfortable ... "Don't take off without them"

EarPlanesEarPlanes are a patented pressure-regulating earplug inserted in the ear to help reduce discomfort often associated with air travel. They have been tested by U.S. Navy aviators at the Miramar Navel Air Station in San Diego. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has designated EarPlanes as a "Class 1 Medical Device" so they may be purchased "over the counter" without a prescription.

EarPlanes consist of two elements: a hypoallergenic silicone ear plug and a ceramic pressure regulator. The silicone earplug has four circumferential rings which provide an airtight seal between the product and ear canal. The ceramic element is a controlled-porosity filter, one end of which is exposed to the external cabin pressure, with the opposite end exposed to the sealed chamber formed when the ear plug is inserted in the ear. Thus, as the cabin air pressure changes, a pressure differential is created across the ceramic filter, thereby causing air to flow through the filter. The filter acts as an impedance to the flow of air into and out of the ear canal.

Ear diagramDiscomfort is caused by blockage and/or swelling of the Eustachian tubes. The air pressure changes induced by the aircraft's decent are too rapid for the blocked Eustachian tubes to adjust properly. However, EarPlanes, provide an equal but opposite impedance on the exterior of the middle ear, allowing relief. Discomfort is reduced because the air pressure difference on the exterior and interior of the middle ear is lessened allowing the Eustachian tubes to function more normally.

EarPlanes are meant to be used for one or a few trips, then discarded. During operation, air flows through the microscopic pores of the ceramic filter. Particles of smoke, pollen and airborne bacteria are small enough to eventually "clog" the filter and reduce effectiveness. (The useful life can be extended by wearing EarPlanes only during the descent phase of each flight.)

EarPlanes also function as excellent noise-suppression ear plugs. Many users report that EarPlanes seem to filter out much of the objectionable noise generated by aircraft engines, while conversation, warning horns and cabin P.A. announcements may still be heard (and headsets worn) by users.

EarPlanes pressure-regulating ear plugs for flyingAlthough originally designed for airline passengers, EarPlanes are even more valuable for passengers and pilots of non-pressurized general aviation aircraft. We've tested them in "slam-dunk" 3,000-FPM descents and found them remarkably effective in reducing the discomfort of ear blocks. For young children who have difficulty clearing their ears during descent, they're worth their weight in gold. For pilots, they work fine when used inside passive or ANR headsets (although you'll have to turn up the com volume to compensate for the additional noise attenuation provided by the EarPlanes).

Available in two sizes: child (ages 1-11) and adult (age 12 up).

Purchase your EarPlanes pressure-regulating ear plugs risk-free! Like everything else sold by OceanMedix.com, EarPlanes are sold with an unconditional 30-day return privilege. If you're dissatisfied for any reason, send it back within 30 days for a full refund.

Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom MicroDoug Ritter Special Edition MKII
Photon Freedom Micro

The new Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom Micro has a protective LED tube that both eliminates sidescatter and protects the LED, while still allowing the general flood illumination that makes for a more practical and useful light.

The Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom Micro has two unique features:

1.      The Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom Micro has a protective LED tube that both eliminates most side scatter and protects the LED, while still allowing the general flood illumination that makes for a more practical and useful light. No more side scatter and a wide area of useable light surrounding the twice-as-bright main beam.

2.      The Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom Micro is also molded in bright yellow glass-filled polyurethane, so it’s easy to locate. Whether in your purse, pocket, flight bag or if dropped, the bright yellow makes it a cinch to find.

The Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom Micro features simple, intuitive single-button operation that provides quick, easy access to the features you use most, with additional mode settings available only when you want them. "Smart circuit" technology gives you the light you need, when you need it. One button does it all!

Simple, Intuitive operation:

  • Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom MicroImportant: Before using your Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom Micro you must take it out of Demonstration Mode by pressing and holding down the control button until the light turns off (approximately 20 seconds).
  • All it takes is a simple squeeze of the button to give you instant full power illumination at any time. To dim the light once it is turned on, simply press and hold the button to dim the light to the desired level.
  • Alternatively, pressing and holding the button when the light is already off will turn it on at the lowest level and allow you to gradually increase the brightness to give you just the amount of light you need to accomplish your task without disturbing your night vision or disrupting those around you.
  • When needed, the four safety strobe functions (fast, medium, slow, & SOS) can be accessed by continuing to hold the button down. Once the light has dimmed or brightened fully, it will proceed to cycle through the various strobe functions. Simply release the button when you reach the desired beacon mode. In addition, instructions are provided for a shortcut to the SOS mode.
  • An additional "signaling" mode can be accessed by tapping the button several times in rapid succession. When in the signaling mode, the LED will illuminate only while the button is pressed and goes off when it is released. To exit the signaling mode and return the light to normal operation, simply press and hold the button for several seconds until the light turns off. This mode can also be used to prevent accidental battery drain. However, having carried these lights for years in my pocket, I have never yet had it turn on inadvertently when in normal mode. The switch is not so sensitive that this is much of a problem.
  • Finally, there's also an undocumented feature in the microprocessor firmware that allows you to operate the light at 50% power in all modes for even greater battery life. This could be handy in a true survival situation where you need to maximize battery life. In this mode you have approximately the same illumination levels that were found in the original Photon Freedom Micro.
  • Detailed instructions for operating and maintaining the Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom Micro are included.

The Doug Ritter Special Edition MKII Photon Freedom Micro is truly the easiest-to-use, most powerful, full-featured micro-light available. Nearly indestructible, it is backed up by one of the best warranties in the industry.
